Essex Police create A12 'Ring of Steel'

A "ring of steel" has been created by police on the A12 in Essex  to clamp down on burglaries in the area.

Operation Mountain Dew saw 29 officers in marked and unmarked cars patrol the A12 and access roads around
Hatfield Peverel and Feering on Thursday.

The aim was to disrupt travelling criminals after a series of burglaries in the Hatfield Peverel and Wickham Bishops
  areas.

Police said no burglaries happened while the "ring of steel" was in place.

Officers stopped 37 vehicles and made no arrests.

Ch Insp Nick Lee, Braintree district commander, said: "I have a clear and simple message for the burglars.

"You are disrupting the lives of honest, hardworking people, so we will disrupt your life. We are after you and we will
  bring you to justice."
